Obituary

MACKENZIE, John Dean
November 17, 1942 - June 6, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Dean MacKenzie. Loving husband to Lynda for 48 years. Devoted father to Shaun (Ashley). Loving son of Catherine and William MacKenzie and brother Kirk MacKenzie (Kristina) and sister Shannon, and stepmother Jean. John will be missed by his grandchildren Carson and Callie. Fondly remembered by Harvey (Penny), Ken (Sharon), Paul, Steve, Jennifer, Heather, Christopher and many friends. John was a wonderful husband, father and true friend. Long time employee of The Ford Motor Company of Canada, following his retirement John managed MacKenzie Business Solutions. He will be remembered as an avid golfer and club champion at Richview Golf Club in Oakville. Sorry you didn’t get to golf one more round. Hopefully you will find a yellow Mustang in Heaven. As per John’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family celebration of his life will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John to the Lung Health Foundation would be sincerely appreciated.

Lynda, we are so sorry for your loss. We wish we had gotten to know John better as a friend and had hoped to spend time together on the golf course. Please know you are in our thoughts and that you have many friends surrounding you on our street. Henry & Theresa Brown

I have so many wonderful memories of John, especially during our time together in Central Accounting, FOC. John was an Accounting guru and taught us well. He set the bar really high and led by example. John always brought out the best in people. It was with John’s support and guidance that I accepted an opportunity to relocate to Dearborn the end of 1996. It had such a positive impact on my life and for that I am eternally grateful.
To Lynn, Shaun and all of John’s family, my thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. May you be comforted by the wonderful memories and the incredible love that you shared. RIP John.

Being relatively new to Canada, we had the good fortune to move into the home next door to the MacKenzies in the early 80's. We remained neighbours for many years and became close friends. On a street full of kids and teenagers, the MacKenzie home was a welcoming hub to children and adults alike.
John was consistently patient and kind with all the activity, even when he came home from work to find a tribe of kids on his lawn and parents hovering nearby. He delighted all the young boys when a mustang replaced the family wagon once in a while.
Our hearts go out to Lyn and Shaun and family. May your happy memories sustain you during this difficult time. John you will be missed.
