McCarthy, John Joseph
Passed away peacefully at Joseph Brant Hospital on Friday, December 13th, 2019, at the age of 84, with his family by his side. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Mary (née Crilly), children Tim (Kristin), Paul, Sheila (Jeff), Michael, daughter-in-law Carole, grandchildren Klaire, Grace (Chris), Maddie, Katie, Kaitlin, Will, Aidan, Kieran, Liam, and Kaylie, as well as his sister, Jane, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. Always energetic, John earned his BA (Economics, McMaster) while working full time and raising his family. Retired after almost 30 years as a marketing director, John built a successful consulting business for more than 10 years. He will be missed by many friends in his church community and other organizations to which he belonged.
Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (1 stoplight north of QEW), Burlington (905 - 632 - 3333) on Wednesday, December 18th, from 3 - 5 pm and 6 - 8 pm. Vigil prayer service at 8 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 196 Kenwood Ave., Burlington, on Thursday, December 19th, 2019 at 11:00 am. Reception to follow in the church hall. Private interment will take place at a later date. For those who wish, memorial donations to Joseph Brant Hospital or Parkinson Canada would be sincerely appreciated by the family. We would like to express our appreciation to all the people at Joseph Brant Hospital who cared for him so well during these past difficult weeks.
