It is with love and sadness that we announce Johanna's passing on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 in her 89th year. Loving wife of Erik for nearly 66 years, devoted mother of Mary (Darryl Williams), Valerie (Doug Hale), and Robert (Lora Lee), cherished Oma of Jennifer (Bud Adams), Daniel Hale, and Christopher Williams. Johanna will be fondly remembered by her sister Maria (John Ellis). She is predeceased by her parents Arie and Maria Krul, and her brother Pieter Arie (Wil).
Born in Den Haag, South Holland, Johanna and Erik married in 1958, and immigrated to Canada to begin a new life together. Johanna volunteered for many years as a caregiver for the Red Cross, often visiting people in their homes. She enjoyed traveling, and together with her daughters and sister, made it a point to go the Netherlands every few years to both visit family and honour her roots. Above everything, Johanna loved her family, and enjoyed gathering for special occasions, keeping her family close to her.
In keeping with Johanna's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family gathering and Celebration of Life will be held a later date.
