Peacefully surrounded by her family at The Carpenter Hospice on Friday, August 2, 2019 at the age of 77. Beloved wife of Fred McMurray. Loving mother of Wendi Jackson (William), William McMurray, Wanda Bottoms (Tom) and Shawn McMurray (Tracey). Cherished grandmother of Aaron (Danielle), Bradley, Blake, Marisa, Makayla and Quentin and great grandmother of Alice. Joan is survived by her siblings William Brinklow (Janice), Betty Arnold and Barbara Ross (the late John). Predeceased by siblings Keith, Audrey, Murray and Terry. Joan was a long-standing member of the Halton Quilters Guild. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the following; Dr. Pintea and the Caroline Medical Team, Dr. Durcan for his wonderful care this past week, the nurses, PSW’s and volunteers at The Carpenter Hospice for the outstanding care, compassion and love she received from all of them. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Joan’s Life will be held at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Thursday, August 8, 2019 from 4-7p.m. In celebrating Mom’s life, we encourage you to wear her favourite colour, blue. Private family interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Joan are asked to please consider The Carpenter Hospice or Community Living Burlington.
