Obituary for Jane Eleanor Richardson (Lillico)

RICHARDSON, Jane Eleanor (nee Lillico)

Passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 26, 2021 at the age of 81. Beloved wife of the late Robert (Bob) Richardson (2017). Loving mother of John (Lee), Kimberley (Roger) and Robin (Joel). Cherished Nana of Tristan (Emma), Zachary, Matthew (Jessica), Hunter, Sarah, Alyssa and Alexandra. Predeceased by her parents Douglas and Ruth Lillico (nee van Nostrand). Jane will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Jane was born and raised in Toronto. She loved spending summers in Muskoka, swimming and boating with her family. Jane graduated from McMaster University and began her career in teaching high school in Hamilton. She had a love for local history which she taught at Sheridan College.

Jane’s children and grandchildren were the light of her life! She was actively involved in their many activities over the years as seamstress, teacher, soccer coach and, of course, as their proudest cheerleader. She also loved attending musical theatre with family over the years and was a seat sponsor for The Burlington Performing Arts Centre.

Jane also had a passion for her community and was actively involved in Burlington Branch 60 of the Royal Canadian Legion with her husband Bob. Every year Jane enjoyed working in the Poppy Campaign. Most recently she held the position of Secretary for both the Executive and the Ladies Auxiliary of Branch 60. She was honoured and proud to be made a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Jane and Bob made many close friends through the Legion and Jane greatly enjoyed karaoke night listening to Bob sing her favourite Elvis Presley songs.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jane can be made to Burlington Branch 60 or to the Arthritis Society.
