Obituary for James Lionel "Jim" Chambers

James “Jim” Chambers, 82, of Burlington, Ontario, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on March 24, 2023 with his family by his side.

Jim is survived by his loving wife and best friend Rose Marie nee Turner of 57 years, his son James Lionel “Jimmie” (Eva) and his daughter Wendy May (Martin) O’Toole. He will also be lovingly remembered as “Bampy” by his grandchildren, Josh, Jake (Dana), Emily and Jamie and missed by sister-in-law Betty Wardrope (Jack), Daisy Watson (predeceased) as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Jim was born in Hamilton to the late Royce and Connie Chambers on August 9, 1940, he grew up in Stoney Creek with his 2 brothers, Currie (predeceased) and Jack (Sue).

Jim was the most gentle, sincere, and warm soul to all he knew and met. A true, ‘do anything for anyone kind of man’. He devoted his life to his family, animals and to all living things. He was a true outdoorsman and loved gardening and just puttering around the house. He was a hard worker even in retirement and always made sure his family was provided for, even after his 30 year career at Laurel Steel where he retired in 2006.

Thank you to Juravinski Hospital, Joseph Brant Hospital and to all those who provided care for Jim during his 3 year battle. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or any animal rescue of your choice.

Please join us at Smith’s Funeral Home, 1167 Guelph Line, Burlington. Visitation on March 29th from 3-5pm & 7-9pm. The funeral will be on March 30th, 1pm. Reception to follow.

Please feel free to dress casual as that is what Jim would have wanted…
