After twelve, beautiful, joy-filled days outside of the womb, our precious son and heart warrior, Isaac Nathaniel Spurgeon Mills, passed away in his mother's arms at 3 p.m. on April 28th, 2022 at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto, Ontario.
Isaac was born on April 16th, 2022 at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, Ontario. Isaac was dearly loved by his parents, Joshua & Kyla Mills, along with his grandparents, Stephen & Angela Mills and Bruce & Anita McKee, as well as his aunts and uncles, Rebecca Mills & Sean Jones, Andrew McKee, Jennifer & Douglas Plett, and Elizabeth McKee. In Isaac’s short life, he was loved by his friends and family at Trinity Baptist Church and around the globe. Isaac was predeceased by his uncle, Nathan McKee, after whom he was named.
Though Isaac was born with a rare congenital heart disease, Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, along with a poorly functioning Pulmonary Valve, his life had value, dignity, and worth since conception because he was created in God's image (Gen. 1:27). He was fearfully and wonderfully made by the sovereign ruler of the skies (Ps. 139). The Lord uniquely formed and fashioned Isaac in Kyla's womb. With such a complex heart, one that the doctors have rarely seen, Isaac achieved so many milestones in his short life. He pressed on each day when things kept looking against him. With less than half a heart, he was full of life. The Lord upheld him and showed the watching world that He alone is the Author of Life.
Throughout Isaac’s nine months of life in the womb and twelve days outside of the womb, he brought us much joy as we sang hymns and songs with him, read story books and the Bible to him, and held hands and cuddled with him. Isaac has taught us to live each day in light of eternity and to receive each day as a precious gift from the Lord. He has also taught us that every life, despite hardship, is sacred and to be cherished and defended.
Our hearts are broken to lose Isaac and not bring him home with us. We grieve deeply but not without hope. The only hope we have is our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who died on the cross to defeat death and will someday wipe away every tear, making all things new.
The funeral service for Isaac will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 6th, 2022 at Trinity Baptist Church (4372 Appleby Line, Burlington, ON, L7M 0P4) with visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. The burial will take place after the service at Burlington Memorial Gardens (3353 Guelph Line, Burlington, ON L7P 0S7) with refreshments to follow back at the church. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
We would like to express our thanks to the Cardiac Critical Care Unit at Sick Kids Hospital, Toronto, for their excellent care of Isaac, as well as our many friends and family who have prayed for and supported us through this journey.
If desired, friends and family may make memorial contributions to the following charities:

For Isaac:
Twelve joy-filled days with our precious son;
Death, the Grim enemy met our son.
Indescribable pain and agony has overcome,
Sorrow upon sorrow till morning dawns.
Close to despair, but not without hope;
Scriptures telling that we will meet again.
Future days in eternal bliss,
With my Saviour, clothed in Sovereign love.
Oh, the Joy to be with Christ;
Christ the Resurrection Hope.
No more death, no more tears,
No more sickness, and no more pain.
Standing with Christ in everlasting years.

"3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. 4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” 5 And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true” (Rev. 21:3-5).
