MILLER, Irene Moira (nee Maclean) -

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Irene Miller on Monday, August 12, 2019 at the age of 87. Devoted wife of the late Dr. Bruce Miller (1994). Cherished mother of Nigel Miller and Fiona Lowden (Doug). Proud grandmother of Daniel Miller (Carolyn), Steven Miller (April Sanderson) and Devon Lowden (Kenzie Van Wagner), and great-grandmother of Torin Lowden. Dear sister of Kathleen Hulland (late Frank) of England. Remembered by the extended Miller and Lowden families as well as many friends in Ontario, Newfoundland and the UK. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. As per Irene’s wishes, a Private Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of the QEW), BURLINGTON, 905-632-3333, on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 10:00am, with reception to immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Irene to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be sincerely appreciated.

My condolences to Nigel and Fiona, and family members. Mrs. Miller; she would constantly chide me to call her Irene, proved the very best of British imports to Nfld. So solid, and down to earth; possibly she was more rock than Nfld. But it was ground for bountiful harvest; there was only room for blooming flowers, and loving , shared whispers of her cherished Nigel and Fiona.

Oh my. I have lost my Newfoundland Mom. I will forever remember Irene as one of the truly most gracious and kind women I have ever met. When we stayed with her in St. John’s we were home. Whenever I saw her after she moved to Ontario (Yay!!!), I was at home. She was one of the world’s few who truly wanted to know the answer when she asked “How are you?” She saw our first grandchild before I did and I was delighted with her glowing report of our Simon. Her interest in how we were all doing was so genuine and loving. I will miss her beauty in our world in every way. I thank God she lives on now in Torin, another generation of a beautiful family. Rest In Peace Irene. Job well done. I love you.
