Obituary for Helen Lorraine Hutton

On Tuesday, June 11, 2019 Helen passed away peacefully in her sleep at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital at 90 years of age. Helen spent the days and hours prior to her passing with her family, and thinking of her friends.

Through her life, Helen became a beloved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend. Helen was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Thomas Hutton and together, Helen and Tom, raised their three children Tommy, Gregory (Terry) and Susan (David) in Scarborough, ON. Helen was such a proud mother and an incredible, loving ‘Ema’ to her grandchildren Kathleen, Christine (Andrew), Andrea (Tim), Peter, Karen and Connor. As well, predeceased by her sister Rita (John-Louis) and her brother (Gerrard), Helen is a wonderful ‘Anya’ to her nephews Rob (Lynn), Paul (Lucy) and niece Lynn, their children and grandchildren.

Helen was a devout member of her local church communities and made strong, often life long, friendships wherever she went.

This strong-willed, kind and wildly independent matriarch never missed an opportunity to brag about her family, or to celebrate our accomplishments. She loved deeply, and distance was no barrier for her as she made sure to check up on everyone regularly. Helen lived an energetic and full life, constantly surrounding herself with people and has had a profound impact on so many people’s lives.

Mom, Ema, Anya, Mrs. Hutton, Helen – you will be missed, and you are so loved.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gabriel Roman Catholic Church (2261 Parkway Drive, Burlington) on Saturday, June 22nd at 10:30 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers for those who wish memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
