It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helen. She passed away peacefully, with family by her side, at ThorntonView LTC Oshawa, on Wednesday, March 4th, 2020 at the age of 87. Dear mother of Sonia Keeves (Roger), William (Lisa) the late Linda Benson and the late Leonard. Cherished Baba of Jennifer (Kevin), Hilary, Zachary and Jacob. Adored Great Baba of Teigan, Kyle and Jack. She is survived by her dear brother Mike Perehuda. Predeceased by her husband William (Bill) Bachewich, parents Katie and John Perehuda, and sister Mary Perehuda.
Helen will be missed by her many extended family members and friends.
Helen was born and raised in Saskatchewan, and where she met the love of her life, Bill, sharing 63 years together. Helen and Bill came east to Hamilton in hopes of a better life, and eventually settling in Burlington. Travelling and dancing were two of their favorite activities. They enjoyed many winters at their home in Florida with family and friends.
Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME,485 Brant Street, (one block north of City Hall),BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Sunday, March 8th 4-7 pm. A funeral will be held at Smith’s on Monday, March 9th at 1:00pm, with interment following at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington.
In lieu of flowers, if you wish, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation can be made.
