Obituary for Harriet Godwin Munro (Brown)

MUNRO, Harriet Godwin (nee Brown)

Passed away peacefully at Mountainview Retirement Residence in Georgetown on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at the age of 94. Predeceased by first husband Kenneth Munro (2002) and second partner Dr. Arthur “Frank” Lewis (2005). Survived by her daughter Gail. Harriet will also be fondly remembered by the extended Munro, Lewis and Brown families and dear friends. Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec she raised her own family in Port Credit, Ontario. Harriet then moved to Burlington in the 1980s where she met Frank and they shared many crowded and joy-filled years at 5006 hosting friends, supporting the theatre and cherishing antiques. Forever a best grandmother to equines, canines and felines. Harriet will be remembered for always showing her own springer spaniel at Canadian Kennel Club dog shows right behind daughter Gail and her springers and setters. Harriet sang soprano in many church choirs for over 30 years, the last one being Port Nelson United. Special thank you to the staff of Mountainview Residence for their kindness, compassion and the excellent care provided. As per Harriet’s wishes, private cremation has taken place. Interment to be held for friends and family at a later date. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Harriet to Port Nelson United Church in Burlington would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
