Obituary for Greig Joseph Arsenault

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Greig Joseph Arsenault at the age of 61 on Wednesday, October 14, 2020. Greig was born in Toronto, Ontario in 1959.

From a very young age, Greig loved cars. His first word may have actually been “car”. As a young boy he received a red metal toy car as a Christmas present. Greig did everything possible to keep the car together. It broke many times, but he always found a way to fix it using tape, shoestrings, and twist ties. His ability to keep toy cars running as a hobby soon turned into a passion. Throughout the years he developed important mechanic skills that he used to assist many friends or family members in distress with broken down vehicles. This ability to work with his hands led him into a career as a plumber for many years.

As a young teenager Greig moved with his family to Malton, Ontario. He enjoyed playing lacrosse, watching Toronto Raptors, Blue Jays, and Toronto Maple Leafs, going to concerts, and watching television wrestling matches. Greig always smiled and was a tender-hearted person who loved being surrounded by family and friends. He was always ready to lend a helping hand when needed, or be available for a good conversation.

Greig was married in his early twenties and had three lovely children. He spent lots of time bringing his children to parks, sporting events, car rallies and special family functions. As the years rolled on, Greig’s absence from family events was often noticed. In his later years with another partner, Greig had his fourth child. He loved his children.

An excerpt from a poem Greig wrote in 2001 says:

“From them there is so much to learn,
ask for nothing in return.
Come and Go,
Can live without them - I don’t think so.
Never really leave, in this I believe”.

Greig will always be remembered by his sister, four children, and many extended family members and friends within several communities. He was predeceased by his parents, Edmund and Patricia Arsenault.

Greig is home now, resting in the arms of Jesus; while remaining in our hearts forever.
