McSporran, Gerda Helen (nee Schellenberg) -

On Thursday, September 5, 2019, at the age of 67, Gerda passed away peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. She was surrounded by her family and friends at The Carpenter Hospice in Burlington.

Loving and devoted wife of Ian for 38 years. Cherished mother of Susan McSporran Stanlake (Jordan), Liz Collins (Jeff), and David McSporran (Mandy). Proud grandmother of Nya, Kyenne, Kyleigh, Bennett, Makayla, Liam, Julia and Grandbaby 8, due in December. Dear sister of John Schellenberg (Susan) and David Schellenberg (Gwyn). Treasured by many, Gerda will be deeply missed by family and friends.

As per her wishes, please join us for a Celebration of Life at Compass Point Bible Church (1500 Kerns Road, Burlington), on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 2:00pm with refreshments to follow. For those who are unable to attend, a live-stream of the service will be available:

Dear Dave,
So sorry to hear the news of your mom's passing.
I never had the privilege of meeting your mom. They say that you can tell a lot about a person by the character, influence and example of their mom. I'm sensing that I know her a little by knowing you, Dave.

Dear Ian and Family,
I am so terribly sorry to hear about your loss. I was only able to hear Gerda speak once, but know the impact she had on so many women. She was a wise woman. I pray that God grants you peace during your time of grieving.
Love Janetta and Bob

"A friend loves at all times." Prov. 17:17
"Love the Lord Your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbour as yourself." Luke 10:27
Gerda loved and was loved and will be loved from now until eternity when we shall meet again. Thirty-two years of friendship, so many memories, seems like just yesterday we were young moms with our little ones. Cherish your friendships. Love and be loved!

Dear Dave and family, we are sorry to hear of your loss. The incredible blessing that Gerda is to your family is evident not only through your words but can be clearly seen in the wonderful family and legacy of faith she was so instrumental in creating. We are continuing to pray for God’s comfort and peace in days to come as you celebrate the gift of her life.
