Obituary for George Kapusty

It is with very heavy hearts that the family of George Kapusty announces his sudden passing at home on Saturday, June 22, 2019 in his 87th year. He is predeceased by his wife of 56 years Elaine Kapusty (nee Jones), his infant son Michael Andrew, his parents Afia and Ivan Kapusty, his brother John Kapusty and Sister Mary Shtun (nee Kapusty). He is survived by his children Fred Kapusty (Kim) of Grimsby, ON, Beth Trevors (Pat) of Woodbury, MN, John Kapusty (Jennifer) of Penticton, B.C. and Catharine Marchand (Rich) of Cambridge, ON. He also leaves behind the joys of his life - his 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren Michael (Laurie), Matthew, Patrick, Aaron, Christopher (Emily), Nicholas, Cameron, Emma, Lucas, Abigail and Barrett. George immigrated to Canada at the age of 5 from Dovhe, Czechoslovakia (present day Ukraine) with his mother and siblings to settle with his father in Grimsby, ON. He attended Grimsby Secondary School where he was a gifted athlete and from there went to work at Penn Lumber in Grimsby, ON and later G.C. Duke Equipment in Burlington, ON. He served the community of Grimsby and Niagara Region in many capacities including school board trustee for the Niagara Catholic School Board and 40 years as a Grimsby volunteer firefighter. Visitation at STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, GRIMSBY (905-945-2755) on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. with Vigil Prayers at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 135 Livingston Avenue, Grimsby on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 11 a.m. Cremation and private family interment at Queen's Lawn Cemetery to follow. In his memory, the family would appreciate donations to the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital Foundation.
