Passed away peacefully at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington on Friday, February 7, 2020 at the age of 86. Loving husband to Maria (nee Patsalou) for 56 years. Devoted father to Solomos Solomou (Suzan), Panikos Solomou (Pantelitsa) and Mike Solomou (Katie). Proud grandfather of Vasil, Joey, Jacob, George and Avraam. Dear brother Andreas Solomou (Theonitsa), Michael Solomou (Maroula) and Theodora Efthimiou (Savvas). George will also be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family both here in Canada, Cyprus and around the world. Special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Joseph Brant for their compassion and the care provided. Visitation will be held at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north or QEW), BURLINGTON, 905-632-3333, on Wednesday February 12, 2020 from 5-8pm with vigil prayers at 7:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church (22 Head Street, Hamilton), on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at 11:00am. Interment at Woodland Cemetery (885 Spring Gardens Road), followed by Reception held back at the church hall. If desired, donations in memory of George to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Hamilton, would be sincerely appreciated.
