Obituary for Geoffrey Robert Hoyle
HOYLE, Geoffrey R.
Passed away at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at the age of 89. Geoff was predeceased by his loving wife of 34 years, Joyce MacLaren. He is survived by his children Kim, Aaron and Dana, and is remembered by cousin Ron and other relatives of the extended Leitch family. He will also be fondly remembered by friends and former colleagues.
Geoff's career was spent in various roles as a Safety Engineer, ranging from inspections to senior management. His employers included the Ministry of Transportation, the Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway, the Construction Safety Association of Ontario, Canada's Wonderland, and Bendix Corporation. Geoff was also a long-time volunteer with TOWARF Marine Rescue in Oakville. In retirement Geoff travelled with Joyce, and enjoyed his job at Canadian Tire. Throughout his life he doted on his well-loved pets (and everyone else's too).
As per Geoff's wishes private cremation has taken place. An interment will be held in Renfrew, Ontario. Special thanks are extended to ICU and all the caring staff at JBH, as well as family physician Dr. Chris Williams and his team. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Geoff to the Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation would be sincerely appreciated.
