(June 28, 1927 - August 13, 2022)
It is with profound sadness that we announce Garnet's passing at Joseph Brant Hospital on Saturday, August 13th at the age of 95. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Elizabeth (nee Dresser), children Allen (Sheila), Ruth (Gennaro), and Honorary daughter, Anne (David), grandchildren Jacob (Amanda), Victoria (Spencer), Matthew (Michelle), Emily (Richard), Hope (Stephen), and great granddaughter Briar. Survived by brothers Eldon (Elizabeth, predeceased) and Gordon (Evelyn). Predeceased by parents John Graham MacCara and Mary (nee MacKay) (MacCara) Graham and siblings Jean, Murray, Forbes and Kathleen. Garnet will be remembered fondly by the Dresser family and many other extended family and friends.
Following completion of his BSc degree (Chemistry, Dalhousie University) Garnet joined Firestone (1951-1988). Upon retirement he enrolled in adult education classes yielding projects treasured by many. He was a deeply spiritual man who was happiest being of service to others. A kind, gentle, humble man whose moral compass always ran straight and true. Garnet adored Beth, his best friend and soulmate for 62 years. Theirs was a partnership built on giving, consideration for one another and laughter. In his eyes his greatest treasure was his family and just as in our hearts, he was ours. We will love you forever.
Visitation at Port Nelson United Church (3132 South Dr. Burlington) on Tuesday August 23 from 1pm until the time of the service at 2pm. A reception will follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Garnet to The Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
