Obituary for Gail Brock (Statham)

BROCK, Catherine “Gail” (nee STATHAM)

Born 18-Jan-1934 in Roblin, Manitoba
Died 13-Jan-2020 at Cama Woodlands Long Term Care in Burlington, Ontario

Only child of Ted & Catherine (Cassie) Statham nee McNeill. Predeceased by husband of 55 years, Michael, in 2012. Deeply loved & loving mum & grandmother to Catherine Brock (David Lawson), Hilary & Elizabeth, and Jonathan (Jill) Brock, Maggie & Kate. Gail is fondly remembered by the extended Brock & McNeill families as well as many friends from Winnipeg, Toronto & British Columbia. GG (Grandma Gail) was a very generous spirit, kind & warm person, with a quiet, yet strong will. She had a lovely, and often mischievous, sense of humour, a keen intellect & a great love of family and friends. She lived her life with grace & dignity and wanted only for her family to be happy.

The family extends deep gratitude for the compassionate care provided by ALL of the staff at Cama Woodlands. They looked after GG as if she were one of their own family.

As per Gail’s wishes, private cremation has taken place.Visitation will be held for family & friends at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant St (one block north of City Hall), Burlington, 905-632-3333, on Saturday 18-Jan-2020 from 12 noon until the start of the Service of Remembrance, which will begin at 1:00 p.m. Light refreshments (including birthday cupcakes) to immediately follow the service at the funeral home. The weather is calling for snow, which is only fitting as GG was born in the middle of a blizzard in a small town on the Manitoba prairie.

As an expression of sympathy, and in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gail to Cama Woodlands Long Term Care, 159 Panin Rd. Burlington L7P 5A6, www.camawoodlands.ca or Juravinski Hospital & Cancer Centre Foundation, Hamilton, would be sincerely appreciated by the family. In remembrance of Gail, take some time to ‘be with’ someone you love, have a cup of tea, listen & share a laugh.
