After struggling with Alzheimer's for the last six years, George Alaister Ronald Prentice passed away peacefully on May 11, 2022 at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital in Burlington, ON. Loving husband of the late Andrea E. Prentice (nee Wilson), devoted father of Deborah Milner, Graham Prentice (Dawn Lundy), Mary Ellen Prentice (Mike Bittman), and Marjorie Prentice (Ron Finnigan), loving grandfather to Elizabeth Longo (Nick), Victoria Milner, Kristin Prentice, Melanie Prentice, Annaline Finnigan, Kieran Finnigan, and proud great-grandfather to Parker and Everleigh Longo.

Ron was born on March 19, 1931 in Montreal, QC.

Son of George and Ellen (Brown), he grew up with his younger brother, Jack, and older sister, Barbara, in Lachine, QC. He attended McGill University where he met Andrea Wilson. They were married on May 17, 1958 and moved to St Bruno to raise a family. The family moved to Burlington in May, 1969 to be closer to the family cottage.

Ron ran his own business called Prentice Chemical Company in Hamilton where he supplied pool chemicals and industrial supplies for 30 years until he retired in 2000. He was an avid bowler, and a golfer from the age of 19. He loved playing in tournaments and earned several trophies for his prowess in both sports.

A memorial celebration of Ron’s life will take place at Hearthstone by the Lake, 100 Burloak Drive, Burlington, on June 5, 2022 from 1-4pm in the Pig & Whistle room.

For those who wish, donations in Ron’s honour to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
