Obituary for Frank L. Gimpelj
Frank passed away at Emmanuel House Hospice with his wife by his side on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at the age of 46. Beloved husband of Pamela (nee Cassano). Cherished father of Frank, Martin, and Paul. Beloved son of Elizabeth and the late Frank Gimpelj and son-in-law of Gabriella and Gus Cassano. Loving brother and brother-in-law of Silvia and Mike, Nancy, Maria and Brian, and Andrea and Chris. Uncle of Luka, Nathan, Tyler, Karina, Emily, Evan, Cole, and Isaac. Frank is also lovingly remembered by his extended family and many friends.
Frank’s greatest joy was his family. He actively devoted himself to being the ultimate sports dad. Frank’s main priority was to be present and supportive for his boys’ activities. He often preached the importance of family with the Niagara Region Minor Football Association where he coached. He was often found at the football field, the CYO Hockey rink, and the Hamilton Croatia FC. He will be extremely missed on the sidelines.
In addition to his family and friends, Frank’s passion was the preservation of the Slovenian culture through various social and cultural organizations. From dancing in the Slovenian folklore group to running the baseball tournament on Labour Day weekend, if there was an event in the Golden Horseshoe, he would likely be there.
Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 454 Highway #8 (east of Millen Road) STONEY CREEK (905-664-4222) on Wednesday November 22, 2023, from 3-5 and 6-9 p.m. Prayer Vigil at 3 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gregory the Great Slovenian Catholic Church, 125 Centennial Parkway North, Hamilton on Thursday, November 23, 2023, at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow.
