Obituary for Frances Roberta Hoppa (nee Reid)
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Fran on Wed Dec 21st, with her loving husband Gord, at her side. Married for 56 years, Fran’s family was her passion. Beloved mother to Rob (Tricia) and Laura (Cal). Devoted grandmother to Katie, Emily and Ben, and Charlotte & Samuel.
Fran cherished her family, she absolutely adored her grandchildren and loved them beyond words. Nothing made Fran happier than a visit from her children and grandkids. She had many friends and relatives that she loved and the best neighbours too. Her genuine nature meant she made friends easily and had lasting relationships with so many over the years.
After a successful career in pharmacy, Fran retired and focused on making a difference in the lives of others. The most significant was her position as Chair of the Board for Phoenix Place, where she was involved with many aspects of the house and fundraising to ensure this critical shelter could provide for abused women and children.
Despite significant health issues, Fran was always thinking of others first, listening or offering advice and support. Her amazing personality and humour always outshone her health limitations. Fran was grace and dignity. Her kindness and compassion will be greatly missed by all of those in her life.
A private cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be planned in the future. If desired, in lieu of flowers, a donation to a food bank or Phoenix Place would be appreciated.
