Obituary for Eric Ainslie Sigvaldason

Peacefully, with his family by his side, Eric passed away on February 25th at the age of 98. Beloved husband of the late Evelyn (2008), cherished father of Eric (Pam), Donna Wood (David), Gordon (Victoria Fader), Kris Molinaro (Gordon) and Karla Graham (Glenn). Dear grandfather to Lauren, Emily (Chris), Jennifer (Paul), Michael (Amy), Seana, Summer, Nicole (Darryl), Cary (Melisa), Paul (Danica), Hayley (Chase) and Taylor as well as great-grandfather to John, Ellie, Ian, Megan and Flora. Eric is survived by his sister Margaret Harrington of Saskatoon and pre-deceased by his sister Elinor Bailey of Winnipeg.

After a 37-year career, Eric retired from International Harvester in 1981. He volunteered for various clubs and organizations including Port Nelson United Church, the Royal Canadian Legion, the Burlington Amateur Radio Club and the Canadian Cancer Society.

Eric was a WWII veteran serving with the Royal Canadian Artillery division and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #60. He will forever be a part of a group of exceptional men and women who sacrificed so much for love, honour and duty, risking their lives to save others.

The family would like to thank the staff of Heritage Place and Sunrise Burlington Senior Living for the kindness and compassion they showed to Dad and his family throughout these recent challenging times.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Saturday, March 11th from 3-5pm.

Private family service and interment at Burlington Memorial Gardens to take place separately.
