Obituary for Emilia Pingue

Pingue, Emilia

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Emilia, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer at the Juravinski Hospital, on Tuesday, August 8th, 2023. She rejoins her family in Heaven, her parents Antonio Ventresca and Nilia Silvestri, her brother Aldo Ventresca, her sister Caterina and brother-in-law Pasqualino Lo Stracco. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Gina Ventresca of Hamilton and many brothers and sisters-in-law in Abruzzo, Italy. Emilia was the loving wife of Feliciano Pingue, for 53 years and adoring mother to Claudio (Olivia) Pingue, Sonia (David) Mendola and Daniela (Michael) Macaluso. She was the world’s best nonna to Ariana, Rocco, Anthony, Matteo, Gia, Marcello, Venanzio and Marco. Everything she did in life was for them as she was the quintessential “nonna”, always feeding her “belli di nonna”. Also mourning the loss of their zia are many nieces and nephews in Canada, Italy and the USA. Emilia immigrated to Canada in 1954 with her family and married the love of her life Feliciano in 1969. They worked hard and always put their family first. She worked for McMaster Hospital for over 27 years. Always cooking, baking and caring for her family or anyone that came to her home. Emilia never liked the spotlight, but always wanted her family and friends at her table, eating and enjoying their time together. Her hand-made pasta, gnocchi, pizza and cookies are world famous. She was the most self-less individual that took great joy in preparing feasts for her family. We will forever treasure the many wonderful memories of our dear wife, mother, nonna, zia, cousin and friend. Her legacy lives on in her children and grandchildren.
