GRANT, Ellen

Promoted to Glory on Saturday February 29, 2020 at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington at the age of 90. Beloved wife of Fredrick Grant. Loving mother of Wendy Hutchison (David) and Robert Grant. Cherished grandmother of Annie (Enrickay) and Katie and great-grandmother of Ellonie. Ellen will be fondly remembered by her sister Eileen Sherwood as well as many extended family members, friends and fellow parishioners of the Salvation Army Church where she was a dedicated member for many years. In keeping with Ellen’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Salvation Army – Burlington Community Church, 2090 Prospect St., on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. followed by light refreshments. As an expression of sympathy, donations made to The Alzheimer’s Society would be greatly appreciated.

Captain Ellen Sherwood was stationed at Paris corps when I was young. ... possibly around age 8. I remember her as a person with a kind voice and sweet smile. Ours was a small corps and she seemed to really like being there - may who came found it very hard going. Not her... Rest in peace.

We want to assure you of our love and prayers at this time. We remember Ellen and her faithfulness to God, her love for her family, and loyalty to her church home, The Salvation Army in Burlington. Your loss brings grief and sorrow, but we are comforted in knowing that Ellen is in the presence of the Lord Whom she loved and served faithfully.

God bless you, Fred, and all the family and know that we care deeply for you. Although we cannot be in attendance at the Celebration of her Life on March 4th, we will be joining you in our thoughts and prayers.

Warmest regards,
Majors Harry and Marina Lacey
