Evenson, Elaine (nee Hooper)
Passed away at Joseph Brant Hospital, on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at the age of 84. Predeceased by her husband Theodore (Ted) in 1979. Will be greatly missed by her son, Euan and his wife Linda, as well as their children Ethan and Liam. Survived by loving sisters Geri (Phil, deceased), and Frances and Colum as well as cherished in-laws Michael and Zenithe, Alan and Patt, Bernice, Dan and Gloria, and Eric and Suzanne. She also will be sorely missed by her extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins and well as her close network of friends. Predeceased by her parents Gerald and Margery.
Elaine had a positive impact on many people in her life. As a wife she learned to perform home dialysis to support and care for Ted in his illness. After becoming a single parent to Euan, she continued to provide a supportive and enriching family environment to help him reach his potential. As an elementary teacher in the Halton Separate School Board, she helped young people to discover a love of learning and of reading. After her retirement, she traveled extensively but also focused her energies on volunteer efforts in the community. She was still active delivering library books and supporting community lunches until recently.
Elaine supported many charities and was particularly interested in organizations that provided direct assistance to those in need. She had a very strong faith that helped her to accept that it was her time to peacefully pass into God’s care. She will be deeply missed but her wonderful personality and positive impact will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
