Shortly before her 100th birthday, Gertie Shepherd passed away at Burloak Long Term Care Centre, Burlington on October 22, 2019. She was predeceased by her husband, W. Erwin Shepherd and son W. D. Bob Shepherd. Gertie is lovingly remembered by her daughter Marlene Horne (late Allan), son Macks (Vicki) , daughter-in-law Susan Shepherd and by her 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Also predeceased by her brothers, Jack, Bert, Walter and Douglas. Gertie was the organist at Appleby United Church for 10 years, was a life member of the Joseph Brant Hospital Auxiliary and organized the Club 9 bus trips at the Burlington Seniors Centre for 10 years. Although she led a busy life, her family came first. A private funeral and burial have taken place. For those who wish, donations in memory of Gertie Shepherd to the Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
