Obituary for Edward Thomas Galway

GALWAY, Edward Thomas

Born in Toronto in 1918 to a loving extended family, Ed passed away peacefully on February 14, 2021 at the age of 102. He is predeceased by the love of his life Dorothy Mabel Galway “Do” (nee Cairns); his beloved son John Edward Galway; daughter Mary-Joan Galway; and son-in-law Rod McDonald.

Married in 1945, he and Do had five children, then five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren whom they loved dearly. He was always available to them, gave good advice, followed by a stock tip and a well-timed joke.

He had a long-distinguished career in the Canadian Armed Forces and then the Federal Finance Department in Ottawa. His service with the Royal Canadian Engineers (Red Patch) allowed him to travel around the world and serve our Country in WWII, Korea, the Embassy in London England, and India and Pakistan with the United Nations.

Sadly, missed by his loving daughters Sheryl, Pat and Kathleen and son in law Clive, grandchildren Elizabeth (Dan), Edward, Trish (John), Pam (Brad), and Virginia (Phill), great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Sebastian, Cerridwen, James, Silas, Max, Riley, Zinnia, Zander and many nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Edward’s wishes, Cremation has taken place and a Private Family Service will be held. Donations if desired can be made to The War Amps, The Poppy Trust Fund, or The Red Cross.
