Obituary for Edmund Tsuneo Kimura

KIMURA, Edmund Tsuneo

Passed away surrounded by his family at the Carpenter Hospice in Burlington from pancreatic cancer on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at the age of 87. Ed received his degree in Geology from the University of British Columbia in 1955. Ed had a passion for geology. He was the Western Canada Exploration Manager at Placer Dome. He was a life-long member of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum. In 2012, Ed was the proud recipient the Gold Pan Award from the Association for Mineral Exploration BC, in recognition of his dedication and outstanding service to the mineral exploration community as an AME BC volunteer.

Ed was a long-time resident of Vancouver and had recently moved to Burlington, Ontario with his beloved wife of 53 years, Doris Kimura. Loving father of Lorraine Kimura (Alan Simunic) and Karen Kimura (Richard Hodgson). Devoted Papa to Ashley and Emma Simunic, and to Paul and Catherine Hodgson. Brother of Florence Kishi (late Isao), Blanche Kishi (late Wayne), Beatrice Tanaka (late Jim) and Greg Kimura and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Ed will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date in Vancouver. For those who wish, donations in memory of Ed to the CIM Foundation would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
