Obituary for Edith Duesburry (Rylands)

DUESBURRY, Edith (nee Rylands) -

Edith passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at The Brant Centre, Burlington on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at the age of 98. Predeceased by her caring husband El (1980), brother Wilf Rylands (1980), (Avril). Loving Mother of June Porter (Terry) and Gord Duesburry (Terry Lynn). Devoted Nana of Spencer and Ryland.

Edith was a long serving community worker who, despite adversity, consistently demonstrated acts of giving, kindness and patience. This was reaffirmed when she was recognized as a member of the Aldershot Community Honour Roll in 2011, for the positive impact of her community work and benefit to Aldershot and beyond.

Recognized by the Region of Halton for outstanding contributions to community safety as a school crossing guard in Aldershot for 28 years. Committed youth leader through service as Brown Owl Leader and Girl Guide Captain. Life Member of the Hospital Auxiliary Association of Ontario for nearly 50 years of “Caring for the Community” as a result of her volunteer work at the Joseph Brant Hospital on the Auxiliary Gift Cart and Shop. An active Volunteer at East Plains United Church for their annual Bazaars and subsequent Arts and Craft Fair. Edith also actively canvassed annually for the Canadian Cancer Society. Her gentle smile, kind manner and never-ending generosity will be dearly missed.

A Graveside Service will be held at Woodland Cemetery (700 Spring Gardens Rd, Burlington, ON L7T 1J3) Section 16 on Wednesday September 25th at 1:30pm.

Thank you to the staff of The Brant Centre for their wonderful care and compassion. If desired, expressions of sympathy to The Brant Centre (1182 Northshore Blvd East, Burlington, Ontario, L7S 1C5) would be greatly appreciated by the family.
