Aunt to Linda (Doug) Bell, Brian (Karen) Johnston, David (BJ) Johnston and their families.
Also survived by family in England.

Dorothy was an active member of St. Matthew on-the-Plains Anglican Church since 1947 serving in many areas until onset of Alzheimer’s prevented her from carrying out various duties. Her contributions were recognized in October of 2011 when the Bishop of Niagara appointed her a member of the Order of Niagara (O.N.) “for her exceptional service to the Church”.

Mom also contributed her time for many years at St. Michael’s House in Oakville where she became an Associate of the Sisters of the Church in October 1985.

After having served in WWII, where Dad was an Air Frame Mechanic in the R.C.A.F. and Mom was in the Women’s Volunteer Reserve Corps, they married in April of 1947. Almost Immediately, they purchased land in Aldershot through the Veteran’s Land Act and physically built themselves the family home where Mom resided for 71 years. Lots of family stories of Mom travelling to hardware stores by day to search for nails to continue the build at nights and weekends while dad worked at Westinghouse.

It was difficult to see her leave that home and move into Park Avenue Manor Retirement Community in October of 2018, but she accepted it with grace and dignity as she had done with everything in life.

In December of 2021, she moved to the Brant Center Long Term Care Residence.

Thank you to all from Joseph Brant Hospital, Home and Community Support Services, Park Avenue Manor Retirement Community, and Brant Centre Long Term Care Residence who provided and assisted in Mom’s care over the last almost seven years. Thanks also to Reverend Canon Susan Wilson from St. Matthew on-the-Plains Anglican Church.

At Mom’s request, there will be no visitation.

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew on-the-Plains Anglican Church, 126 Plains Rd East, Burlington, ON. Masks are required for attendance. Livestream Link

Interment will follow service at St. Matthew on-the-Plains Churchyard Cemetery.
