Passed away at Cama Woodlands Nursing Home, Burlington on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at the age of 97. Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Predeceased by her husband William (2008). Loving mother of Daniel (Janet) of Orleans, Ontario, Ross (Dorothy) of Sparwood, British Columbia, Robert (Karen) of Hamilton, Ontario and Thomas (Susan) of Calgary, Alberta. Cherished grandmother of Douglas (Hung), Brian, late David, Jordan (Shannen), Luke (Doreen), Sarah (Jonathan), Elise (Dirk), Garth, Rebekah (Kelsey), Adam (Emma), Angela-Marie, Gretchen of Nicaragua, Yubelka of Nicaragua, Marisol of Costa Rica and Allison. Doting great grandmother Charlie, Hadley, Anna and Sarah. Predeceased by her parents Archibald and Mary and siblings Gordon, Shirley and Anna. Doreen was a loving and kind wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a woman who knew God and radiated His love and peace through her life. Life was not always easy and she learned to be resilient. Foundational to her resilience were gratitude, forgiveness, and kindness, which she drew from her relationship with Jesus Christ. In her final years, she quietly radiated an infectious grace and joy. It is simply stating the truth to say that she was much loved and that she will be much missed by family, friends, and acquaintances alike. Doreen made a difference during her time here amongst us and she is now in the embrace of the God she loved and joyfully worshiped. Her passing, on both sides of her family, is the end of a beautiful era. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will take place at a later date. Interment Calgary, Alberta.
