Alton, Doreen (nee Heatherington)
It is with great sadness that the family of Doreen Alton (Heatherington) announces her passing after complications from a stroke at the age of 84 on December 23, 2020. Doreen was born on June 22, 1936 in Burlington, where she lived her entire life. She was the oldest of three children. Doreen was a retired Planning Clerk from the Halton Region. She met the love of her life, Gordon Alton and they were happily married for 62 years. Doreen was predeceased by her husband in late August of this year. She is survived by her two children, Karen (Steve) Hibbert and David (Kim) Alton, her sisters Ruth Plant and Betty (Terry) Young as well as her sister-in law Margaret Alton. She will be lovingly remembered by her six grandchildren, Heather Alton (Steve Wong), Scott (Ashlee) Hibbert, Emily Alton (Danny Abbott), Alanna (Andrew) Cashin, Sydney and Alexandra. Doreen will also be missed by her five great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Jonathan and Anastasia Hibbert and Hadley and Grayson Wong, along with many nieces and nephews, neighbors and family friends. Doreen was a caring, compassionate woman that provided loving support and generosity to her family and friends, as well as several local charities. Due to COVID-19 restrictions a private family service has already taken place.
