Don was my department head when I taught French at Lord Elgin High School during the 1970s. I remember Don as a kind, gracious and supportive leader, well respected by staff and students at Lord Elgin. Our condolences to Jan, Leslie, John and the rest of the Hawkins family. Very sorry to hear of his passing.
Adieu, mon ami.

To the Hawkins Family..I was a student of Don at Lord Elgin High School in the 70’s. Don was a top notch caring teacher who truly cared about not only his students but all those that surrounded him. I am proud to say that I am one of the many students that were positively influenced by him. John Gall class of ‘78
