Obituary for David James Hamilton

In the early morning hours on Wednesday, March 30th 2022 at Joseph Brant Hospital, David was released of all his pain. David was diagnosed in July 2018 with Non-Small Cell Double Lung Cancer & Emphysema. David chose the new drug Opdivo for his treatment. David battled his cancer and side effects with quiet dignity and great will power for 3 years and 8 months. David was a life long resident of Burlington who enjoyed living here. David loved being at Spencer Smith Park where he spent many, many hours sitting on his father’s memorial bench. He also spent a lot of time at the Beachway Park, playing volleyball with friends. David loved the outdoors, biking, walking, camping, swimming, music, cooking and BBQing. He also spent a lot of time outdoors with his mother and friends enjoying the sunshine listening to music, talking, BBQing etc.

David went off treatment in the fall of 2020 so he could spend the summer of 2021 without the side effects from his treatments. David and his mother spent many weekly lunches at Joe Dogs on Brant St on the patio in the sunshine.

David fought so valiantly to live.

Predeceased by his father Gordon Richard (d.2001) David leaves behind with love and thankful memories his mother June and families Mr. Ken Rudd, Mr. & Mrs. Dennis Rudd, Mrs. Shirley Horsfall & family, Mr. & Mrs. Will Horsfall & family, Mr. & Mrs. James Butterworth & family, Mr. & Mrs. George Rohr & family, Mr. & Mrs. George Storey & family, Mr. & Mrs. Bill Rohr & family, Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Caiella & family, Mr. & Mrs. Douglas Knox & family, Mrs. Arlene Hamilton & family.
