Obituary

WALLACE, Callista Ann

Passed away suddenly on October 4, 2020 at the age of 70. Predeceased by her husband Stephen Clarke Wallace in 2008, Callista was always helping someone, and her friends were an extension of her family. Callista's heart was on Kawagama Lake in Haliburton Highlands, where she found great joy in welcoming guests, but really loved spending time with her family at the cottage. Callista's passing has left a vast void in her family and friend’s lives. She was deeply loved by daughter Mary Katherine (Kati) Strickland (Aaron), son Joshua James Wallace (Nicole), and grandchildren Avary Grace, Cole Wallace, Noah Clarke and Emily Marie. Siblings Jim, Mark and Mary-Clare recently enjoyed a stay at the cottage with Callista that surely will be remembered for many years. The family wishes to thank extended family for support during this difficult time: Toni Toriborelli & Ken Wedlake, Michael & Linda St. Louis, Mary & Neil Osbourne and so many others who have supported, as well as the wider group of friends who have been so important to the family over many years. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre in Callista's name would be welcomed. The family will be holding private services; kindly contact them directly for details.

We found the Bunkie after being sent to the shed for the night that weekend at Kawagama. That is the best cottage experience I’ve ever had and still talk about today. Callista is iconic, she’s the cool aunt to me and I cherish the memories of her for years to come. Kati and Josh my deepest condolences to you and your family.

The world has lost a wonderful person and I have lost a cherished friend. I will miss our long, long conversations, the laughter, the positive attitude, the cheerful spirit that always left me feeling good. The topic of children and grandkids, from the days they each were born, as they grew and flourished, was always great entertainment. So many special memories that go back even ‘before kids’.
David and I are so grateful and honoured that both Callista and Clarke were part of our lives for many years.

My deepest condolences at this difficult time. I knew Callista to be a strong, caring, generous, and fun woman. She cared deeply about friends and family. The world is a better place for her having graced us. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

It's hard to let a best friend go. Especially one like Callista. She was my my rock, my voice of reason and my inspiration. Callista's wonderful sense of humor and generous uplifting spirit made all of our times together memorable and precious, I especially loved our evenings at the cottage laughing, sharing a glass of wine and rocking to Melanie tunes.

I let you go dear friend with the consoling thought that you achieved your goal of loving and supporting and raising your beautiful children and grandchildren. I share my grief with Kati and Josh and their families. I'm happy to picture you now reunited with Clarke, the love of your life. Ken and I will miss you so much. I know we'll meet again darling. Until then I love you always.

To Kati, Josh and family,
Our hearts are broken, and we will miss our wonderful friend. Dinners, holiday celebrations and card games were filled with laughter when Callista was around the table. She was part of our family, and looked out for us as much as we kept her top of mind every day. We were blessed to have her part of our lives. Much love,
Mary, Neil, Corey and Jake
