With heavy hearts the family announce the passing of Bogdan on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at the Hamilton General Hospital, at the age of 79. Beloved husband of Janina "Zaba" for 57 years. Loving father of Kathi Janusiak (Mark) and Mike Matkowski (Paula). Cherished grandfather of Nikki, Jenna, Birch and Eric. Predeceased by his sister Lila of Poland. Missed also by his nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff of Victoria Gardens Long Term Care Home for their sincere care and compassion. Bogdan immigrated from Poland to Canada in 1972 and proudly brought his family to join him in 1976. He was proud of his two careers; one at International Harvester doing quality control and the second and most recent, driving a taxi for Blueline where he had a lot of fun and heard endless great stories. Above all, he was a dedicated family man and his family will never forget the trips, dinners and taxi stories. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 454 Highway #8 (east of Millen Road) STONEY CREEK (905-664-4222) on Friday, October 18, 2019 from 6 - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, 304 Highway #8, Stoney Creek on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
