Obituary for Beverley June Gaul

GAUL, BEVERLEY JUNE
February 2, 1945 - August 18, 2023

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Beverley June Gaul (née Ryder), of Campbellville, Ontario who passed away peacefully, at the age of 78, on Friday, August 18, 2023 at Milton District Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her beloved husband Jim of 52 years. Bev is survived by her two sons Rob & Dave, sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane & Dave, niece and nephew, Charlene & Jason.

Bev grew up in Burlington, Ontario. Musically gifted. Bev studied Piano & Theory receiving accreditation from the University of Toronto Royal Conservatory of Music (‘59). She attended Nelson, Aldershot and graduated from Burlington Central High School.

After graduation, Bev worked at McMaster University in the History & Sociology Departments where she met Jim. Jim & Bev were married in September 1967 and moved to Toronto to pursue their careers. Shortly after, they moved to Oakville, Ontario to start a family and in the Summer of 1973 Bev gave birth to twin boys. Bev devoted her life to family and became a stay-at-home Mom. Everyone that came to the house called her “Mom”. Always there for us for 50 years.

Jim and Bev spent most Sundays looking at houses in the country; so often they decided to design their own home. In 1988, Jim and Bev moved their family from their roots in downtown Oakville, Ontario, where they lived for over 20 years, to build a custom home in Campbellville where Bev lived for 35 years.

A classically trained pianist. Bev will be fondly remembered for her love of music. A passion from childhood, which Bev shared with her sons. Especially, the music of the 80s which had a special place in her heart.

Bev enjoyed family trips to Banff National Park, Florida and Hawaii.

Kindhearted, loving and supportive. Bev was incredibly selfless. She filled our hearts with so much joy and our home with so much love and laughter. The heart of our family. Bev will be lovingly remembered for her warmth and kindness, her thoughtfulness and generosity, her undying devotion to Jim, her love of tulips, ceramics and all things French. Especially, her Tourtière on Christmas Eve. A mom, sister, aunt and best friend. Forever in Our Hearts. Bev was deeply loved and will be forever missed by friends and family.

A private service was held Saturday, August 26, 2023 at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line, Burlington, ON. Reception followed at The Keg Steakhouse + Bar. A favourite of Bev’s. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that a memorial donation be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
