Obituary for Barry Rowland Wilson
It is with love and great sadness that we announce Barry’s passing on February 21, 2024, with his family by his side, at Oakville Trafalgar hospital. Loving husband of Joan for over 62 years, cherished father to Lesley (Henry)and Christopher (Julia), proud grandfather to Ryan and Jason and step-grandfather to Mya and Jensen. He will be dearly missed by his siblings Jean(Tom)in Hamilton and Glynis in England.
Barry was born in Co. Durham, England where he became an engineer and later a lecturer at Mohawk College. As a young man, he excelled in sports, playing rugby for Hartlepool Rovers and his county. He enjoyed playing badminton, golf and curling but family was always the most important focus of his life.
In keeping with Barry’s wishes, cremation has already taken place.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street (one block north of City Hall) BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 4-7p.m., with tributes and a toast at 5p.m.
