Ms. Barbara Ramsay
1950 - 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Jennifer Anne Ramsay at her Burlington home on January 5, 2023. Barbara was an avid reader and graduated with honours in English Literature from Concordia University and subsequently received a Certificate in Office Administration from Sheridan College in Oakville. Born in Montreal and raised on the West Island, over the last twenty-five years, she came to love downtown Burlington. She enjoyed her daily trips to the shops and to Tim’s on Brant Street for an ice cap. But most of all, she loved spending time with her beautiful cat, Minx.
Barbara is greatly missed by her brother Alex (Susan) of Burlington and her brother Roger (Cari) of Winnipeg. She is fondly remembered by her god-daughter and niece, Gwen Ramsay of London, UK, nephew Ken (Jaime) and great nieces Ella and Mia of Toronto, niece Rebecca (Ryan) and great niece Raina and great nephews Robert and Rhys of Toronto and niece Kristina (Greg) of Pointe Claire, nephew Benny Nemer, of Paris , France, niece Alice Siemens (Grant) and great niece Emmy of Winnipeg, nephew Andrew Ramsay (Karen) great nieces Violet and Evaleigh of Pointe Claire and sister in law Violeta Adomonis Ramsay of Montreal and last but not least, her cousin once removed, and the senior member of the Ramsay family, Mary Ramsay of Montreal.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents Allan and Pearl Ramsay and her brother Rod Ramsay. Her ashes will be interred at the Ramsay family burial plot at Mount Royal Cemetery, Montreal, in the early summer.
A private cremation has taken place at Evergreen Crematorium in Milton. A memorial service will be held at St. Luke’s Anglican Church in Burlington on January 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., reception in the church to follow.
Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, in Barb’s memory, would be appreciated.
Rest in peace Barb, we love you.
