Obituary for Barbara Joyce Hladysh (Evans)

With heavy hearts we announce the untimely passing of Barbara Joyce Hladysh at her final home at Creekway Village LTC. She has finally found the peace she deserved after being freed from the prison of early onset dementia.

Survived by her husband Dennis, soul mate and partner of 48 years. Children Dave (Laura), Kate (Andrew) and grandchildren George and Mary. She is deeply missed by her sister Cheryl (Ron), Brother-in-law Boe (Inge) and several adult nieces and nephews.

Forever cheerful Barb was a retired Ontario civil servant who thoroughly enjoyed her career at Ontario Tourism. Proudly promoting Ontario “yours to discover” throughout the various world markets. Never one to sit still, she funneled her kindness and helpful nature into volunteer work at Joseph Brant Hospital during her retirement and the Ontario Hospital Auxiliary.

Always friendly with an infectious, infamous laugh the world is at a loss without her kind soul. Cremation and private funeral have taken place. If you would like to honour her memory donations to the Alzheimer Society, and Acclaim Health would be gratefully appreciated. Her entire family would like to extend a grateful thank you to the wonderful staff in the escarpment unit of Creekway Village.

Her memory will live on in the kindness she showed to others, and in the lessons she taught her children. We promise to always hold our forks properly, even when you aren’t here looking.
