Passed away peacefully, surrounded by all her children on Monday, November 18,
2019 at the age of 86. Her family is grateful for the compassionate care Axie received in her final years at Hampton Terrace Care Centre in Burlington. Axie was predeceased by her beloved husband Jim in the spring of 2018. The Elliott family were attentive and loving to Axie and share many years of wonderful memories. Adored mother of Rob Johnston (Sharon), Rhonda Patterson (Pete), Gerry Johnston (Elaine) and Cara Siska (Mark). Cherished “Nan” to grandchildren Paul (Kelly), David (Annelise), Janna (Dan), Cara, Kandy (Dale), Ryan (Chantelle), Tyler (Jen), Jaide and Adam, as well as her many great- grandchildren. Axie is survived by her loving sister Arlene MacDonald and brother-in-law Doug. Predeceased by her brothers Stewart Ferguson (Rita), Roy Ferguson (Gen) and Ellard Ferguson (Irene). Aunt Axie will be remembered with love by many nieces and nephews from the Ferguson, the Elliott and the Johnston families. Axie will be fondly remembered by many loyal friends and extended family over the years. Her family’s friends easily became her friends as she welcomed everyone with a warm smile and kind words. Her amazing strength and resilience were as undeniable as her feisty spirit and her thoughtful and caring nature. Rest Peacefully Mom, your love remains with us always. Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON on Thursday, Nov. 28th from 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at West Plains United Church, 549 Plains Rd. W., Burlington, on Friday Nov. 29th at 11 a.m. followed by interment at Burlington Memorial Gardens. As an expression of sympathy, donations to The Canadian Cancer Society or The Canadian Mental Health Association would be greatly appreciated.
