Obituary for Audrey Edwards

Edwards, Audrey Carrie (nee Lafferty)

Gently passed at St. Peter’s Hospital Sunday April 24, 2022 at age 96. Audrey was the middle of 5 children born and raised in Belleville ON. After high school, she began working as a telephone operator at Bell Canada in Belleville. It was at nearby Trenton, during WWII where she met her future husband Edward, who was in the Air Force and stationed there. Following their marriage, they moved to Hamilton where Edward and she opened Edwards Shoe Store on Concession St. specializing in children’s shoes. They began a family and moved to Burlington. After raising her family, Audrey returned to work at Bell Canada in Hamilton until retirement. She loved having her family around and also enjoyed playing cards, going to the races, fishing and traveling. Predeceased by husband Edward in 1997. A beautiful and kind woman who will be deeply missed by her children Meribeth (Roger Therrien) Hanover, MA; Sheila (Daryll Crewson) Brampton; Terry MacMillan (Jim) Burlington; and the late Elaine Leppik (Paul) Burlington. Fondly remembered by her grandchildren Vanessa Therrien (Jonathan), Ashton Therrien (Jerry), Taylor and Natalie Leppik. Survived by brother Robert (Marie, deceased) of Belleville. Pre deceased by her parents, William and Myrtle (nee Moxam), and siblings Edith Cavell, Kathleen (Gordon), and William (Elsie). Greatly missed by the Hanco family, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Able Living, Joseph Brant Hospital, and St Peter's Hospital for their care and compassion. Cremation has taken place.
