Obituary for Anna Marie "Ann" Loos (Serbin)

Ann Loos, long time resident of Grimsby, passed away peacefully at Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice in Hamilton, on Wednesday August 28th, 2019 at the age of 94. She was predeceased by her loving husband, David Loos (August 29th, 2016). She will be greatly missed by her son Brian Loos and his wife Georgia and her daughter Nancy Harrison and her husband Richard. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Sara Loos and Brian and Megan Harrison. Ann was born on June 13th, 1925 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to John and Ethel Serbin. Ann was the middle of 5 children, and was predeceased by her 3 brothers, Harry, George and Johnny and her dear sister Marie Gregory. She worked at the publishing company Reuben H. Donnelley in Philadelphia until moving to Canada to get married. While on vacation at Gray Rocks in the Laurentians in July 1960, fate intervened, sitting Dave and his friends with Ann and her friends at a busy restaurant. The rest, as they say, is history. They were married in July 1961 and lived briefly in Toronto, Ottawa and finally settled in Grimsby. Ann devoted her life to her husband and children. She enjoyed travelling, reading and family get togethers. She gave back to her community through her involvement in St. Joseph’s CWL and she volunteered at the Canadian Red Cross and the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital. Ann’s positive outlook on life and her ability to make anyone feel welcome were her strengths. We will miss her humour, her lengthy phone calls and her notes. Special thanks to Dr. Bonnie White, the Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant LHIN, the caring staff at Maplecrest Retirement home and the compassionate staff and volunteers at the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice. Cremation has taken place. Visitation at STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, GRIMSBY (905-945-2755) on Sunday, September 15, 2019, from 2-5 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 135 Livingston Avenue, Grimsby, on Monday, September 16, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
