Obituary for Angelo Spadafora

After a brave and courageous battle with cancer and surrounded by his family, Angelo passed away peacefully on July 4, 2019, at the age of 94. He was born in the town of Corte, Aprigliano, in the Province of Cosenza, Italy, son of Antonio and Rosina, and the eldest of four children. Angelo will be cherished by his loving wife of 63 years, Maria, three children, Rose, Antonio (predeceased) and Enzo, granddaughter Natalie (Joe), sister Amalia (the late Francesco) and the late Giuseppina (the late Pasquale), brother Italo (Maria) and sister-in-law Chiara (the late Alfio). He will be held dear in the hearts of his nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends in Canada, the United States and Italy.

Since 1964, he called Hamilton home and retired from the City where he worked as a Cement Finisher. Angelo loved gardening, general carpentry, playing cards, travelling, and going to picnics, but most of all, enjoyed sharing his homemade wine, and his wife Maria's cooking with family and friends.

A special thank you to Doctors Dao, Woods, Carter and Selbie and the palliative care teams at St. Peter's and Juravinski hospitals for their medical care, and for supporting all of us throughout his journey. As well, a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Christina Reppas for her medical and exemplary genuine care of Angelo. We would also like to thank the support of the wonderful people that we met during Angelo's stays.

Visitations will take place at Smith's Funeral Home (454 Highway #8, Stoney Creek: 905-664-4222) on Wednesday, July 10, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-9:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 11, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church (165 Prospect Street North, Hamilton). Entombment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery (600 Spring Gardens Road, Burlington).

If so desired, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Angelo may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Sadly missed, but always in our hearts.
