Obituary for Alan Brookhouse

BROOKHOUSE, Alan

The Patriarch of our Clan has left to return home. With broken hearts and overwhelming sadness, on behalf of our mum, the family of Alan Brookhouse announce his sudden passing at the age of 78 due to complications from heart surgery. Alan was the beloved husband, best friend and soul mate of Sandra for over 55 wonderful and precious years; beyond adored and loved DAD to Tina (Michael), Craig (Analia), Cameron (Corrie); dearly treasured grandfather of Chelsey, Brayden, Teryn and Gage; cherished brother to Pat (Jim), predeceased by brothers Peter and Michael, step-grandfather to Josh and Aliyah; and had many other nieces, nephews and cousins in our extended clan in Britain. Dad will also be missed by his extended family and many friends here in Canada who loved him deeply. Family was the most important thing in our dad’s life, it was the reason for his existence. Everything he did, every waking day was for the love of his family and we were blessed to have him in our lives from mum and dad’s wedding day to our first breaths. Our family is emptier now with a seat that cannot be filled, and our get-togethers that he loved so much will never be the same. He was generous to a fault, had a wicked sense of humour and loved filling his family up with Shephard’s Pie and stories that would make you laugh until you cried. And if you cried, his arms were there to hold you up.

We would all like to thank with deepfelt appreciation Dr. Chu, Dr. Nayar and the incredible Cardiac and Vascular Intensive Care Team who fought so hard to try and bring our loved one back to be with us a while longer.

Dad, you were our hero and we loved you so deeply the pain has brought us to our knees, but as you would, we will stand again…you may have been taken from our arms but not from our hearts.

Until we meet again Dad……

Due to Covid Restrictions, a small family farewell will be held at this time, with a Wake and Celebration of Life befitting a sendoff he so deserved at a later date and when restrictions are lifted to allow this gathering for all those who loved our Dad to attend. In lieu of flowers, Dad and our family would appreciate donations in his memory to be made to the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum.
