Obituary for Ahmad Montazeri

Ahmad Montazeri, passed away gently and comfortably in Burlington at the age of eighty-three. His battle with Alzheimer’s began five years ago. He was always surrounded by loving family, especially his wife who did not leave his side to the end. He was a loving husband to Fatmeh for almost 60 years.

He was a loving father dedicating his life to his wife and his seven children Hossein, Parvaneh, Parvin, Manu, Mitra, Afshin and Nushin and daughter in law Mahnaz and Ladan. His gentle voice and touch echoed with love and laughter with his grand and great grandchildren. His grandchildren Shahram, Shahrokh, the late Shaheen, Aty, Sarah, Adam, Tara, Cryus, Omead, Deeba, Darius, and Sophia as well as his six great grandchildren who will miss him dearly. He was a great uncle to Mehdi, Mehry, Pari, Shohreh and so many more. He was the family elder to so many others. He touched the hearts and souls of so many in his lifetime.

His Passion for nature and extensive knowledge of flowers and plants wase never ending. His continued thirst for knowledge was evident in his home library of over five hundred books on plants, flowers, poetry, and history books. He shared this passion with his daughter- in- law Ladan “Zahra” or “Dokhtar Baba” (Daddy’s girl) by spending hours in gardens passing on his knowledge through flowers, touch, and laughter. He instilled in us and everyone around him to be the best and the kindest they can be. We hope that we can carry his legacy and memory far into the future in our hearts and souls. He taught us to pick up people when they were down and raise them even higher when they were up. We will always cherish his memory and carry it with us forever. He was a role model to so many of us.

He is going to be missed by so many people near and far. May he rest in the gardens of heaven, tending to his precious flowers, forever shining down upon us from above with his late son-in-law Mohammad Mojabi.
