BRIGHT, A. Merle (nee Hooper)
Passed away at Joseph Brant Hospital in her 101 year. Predeceased by husband Tom, son John, and great grandsons Jake Bright and Kevin James Latimer. Survived by children Bill (Sheila) Bright, Marjorie (Kevin) Latimer, Pat (Harry) Harrington, eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
Merle was a chartered member of the Burlington Baptist Church and a Life Member of the Branch 60 Legion L.A. and past officer 1st and 2nd Vice President. She was an avid Euchre player, and volunteered many hours knitting hats and mitts for children in need and dolls for children living with HIV in African countries.
The family would like to express our gratitude and thanks to the medical team at Joseph Brant Hospital for their care and compassion. Thank you to mom’s neighbour, Maureen, and to granddaughters Sue and Holly for their ongoing support and help during this difficult time.
Merle was able to live independently in her home at the age of 100 thanks to the home care received from Para Med and Acclaim Health. We thank all family and friends who offered up their prayers, for your phone calls and emails received while in the hospital.
Merle will be missed by her cousin Brenda and dear friend Doris.
In lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to the Burlington Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street (one block North of City Hall), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Thursday, April 29, 2021 from 6-8 p.m. In accordance with provincial regulations, there is a limit to the number of visitors who may attend the service. Please RSVP in advance at www.smithsfh.com. If you are having difficulty with the online RSVP, please call the Funeral Home between 9a.m. – 5 p.m. All visitors are asked to wear a face mask.
