Obituary for John Earl Douglas

John Earl Douglas
Passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington, on Friday, March 8, 2019, at the age of 75. Beloved husband of Barbara (nee Graham, married 54 years). Loving father of Kimberley Taylor (Andrew) and Todd (Lee). Cherished grandfather of Owen and Erin Douglas. Dear brother of Glady Woods (Harry), and predeceased by his three sisters Betty King, Christina Montanera and June Hoxey. Remembered fondly by Sister In-Law Margaret Handley, Brother In-Law George Graham (Marjorie), Sister In-Law Joan Durette and Brother In-Law Carlo Bigelli. Loved by many nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as extended family, cherished work colleagues and longtime treasured friends. John was a 20-year member of the Burlington Oldtimers Hockey Club, loved a round of golf (especially the 19th hole) and warm sunny days, but most of all he loved his family. He will be remembered for his love of life and his great sense of humour. He will be missed dearly.

Special thanks to the nurses (especially Martha) at Joseph Brant Hospital on the palliative care floor. Your support and care were appreciated more than can be expressed. Also Dr. Timothy Salter for his life long care and compassion.

Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Friday, March 15 from 3 - 5 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m., where a Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, March 16 at 1 p.m. Reception to follow. Cremation has taken place. Interment St. Philip's Cemetery, Toronto at a later date. For those who wish, donations in memory of John to the Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
