After dealing for a brief period of time with Mixed Dementia, Alzheimer’s & Cerebral Vascular Disease, Victor passed away peacefully on Saturday January 5th, 2019 at the age of 81 with his family by his side. Victor Randazzo was born in Hamilton, ON on Sept. 20th, 1937.
Loving husband of the late Joy Randazzo. Beloved father of Victor, Elizabeth (Ken) Ruffell, Cheryl (Tom) Waite & Christine (Will).Grandfather of Anthony, Dominic, Matthew, Elyse (Miles) Violette, Thomas, Danny, James, Dylan, Paige, Sophie & Hailee. Great-Grandfather of Lucy & Brooke. Predeceased by parents Anthony & Anna Randazzo, Siblings, John (Connie), Charlie (Beatrice), Danny (Jane), Mary (Gasper) Buscarino, Sarah (Tony) DiCecca, Annie (Jim) Damiani, Anna (Tony) Ardito, Lucy (Arthur) Apps, Joe Patti, Jessie (Pat) Napoli. Survived by Sam (Vera), Tom (Ophelia), Rose (Stan) Frost, Ruth (Harry) Furry, along with many nieces and nephews. Victor retired from Dofasco after 24 years of service, worked as a Crossing Guard and was recognized with Crossing Guard of the Year. Victor volunteered his time coaching the Hamilton Old Boys Football Association for 18 years, winning the Championship 14 of those 18 years and the last 10 years were consecutive Championships. Victor worked with the Hamilton Hurricanes and was recognized and inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame for being a “Builder of the Sport”. The Canadian Blood Donor Society became very familiar with Victor and was recognized for making blood donating for over 25 years. Victor and the love of his life Joy opened their home to over 126 foster children throughout the years. Vic and Joy were known to provide a home that had an open door for anyone and everyone that needed a safe place to visit.
The family would like to make special thanks to Arbour Creek Nursing Home and its staff for the amazing care that they provided during Victor’s final months. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 454 Highway #8 (east of Millen Road) STONEY CREEK (905-664-4222) on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 from 5-9 p.m. followed by Funeral Service at the Funeral Home on Thursday, January 10, 2018 at 1 p.m. Cremation to follow. If desired, memorial contributions to Alzheimer's Society would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
