Obituary for Erika Tavares Bello (Jimpson)

This is a celebration of a wonderful person’s life. Erika touched many as she passed through this mortal world. She is gone to us but is now in a much larger world with limitless boundaries. The joy and love she spread will echo and flow through us forever. The dragonfly has left the pond.

It will be of no surprise that Erika planned the whole funeral. I have already followed and planned her instructions to the last detail. But, just as a precursor to the day, I/we want to make you aware of a few details. There should be no usual dark clothing (black, grey, navy) worn to the funeral. Erika has requested that we keep it light. It is not a sad occasion but a celebration of a life that has passed onto the next level. Please wear bright, cheery colors but nothing gaudy. Another wish Erika has asked for is that, although she adores flowers, she won't be there to touch and smell them. Admire from afar she might well be able to but she thought all of your good and well-intended gestures be directed at better causes - charities. There will be a choice of two and she/I would prefer you to donate to the one(s) of your choosing as opposed to sending flowers. They are both well deserving. The Princess Margaret Lodge was our refuge during some of Erika's treatments. It is in bad need of newer furniture and decor. Burlington’s (Rotary) Carpenter Hospice was Erika's home for nearly 3 months. They operate mostly on donations. The staff and volunteers were all amazing, caring, compassionate people. Again, Erika planned the whole thing so I've already received instructions as to which arrangements to buy, and how many, so don't worry, there will be flowers there.
